Barry T. Harlan was a divorce attorney and Certified Family Law Specialist designated by the State Bar of California’s Board of Legal Specialization. He represented high net worth individuals in complex divorce matters where the earnings and property of the parties were significant.
Barry had extensive experience in divorce matters where multiple corporations were owned by the couple, and in other cases where complex compensation packages or parental fiscal responsibilities were to be determined and properly distributed. He also handled Family Law matters where custody and visitation rights were at issue.
Whether handling emergency Family Law matters or complicated financial transactions, Barry’s goal was to bring calm to the chaotic world of Family Law for our clients, some of whom include the following professionals or their spouses:

As Chair of the Family Law Practice Group at the Firm, Barry lead a team of several experienced family law attorneys and paralegals. Under his supervision, the Family Law Practice Group provided, and continues to provide, excellent service through cost-efficient methods.
Barry also negotiated and drafted pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and cohabitation agreements for clients which saved time and future litigation costs. He was involved in the leading published case in California on post-nuptial agreements, entitled Marriage of Burkle.
Designated a Southern CaliforniaSuper Lawyer since 2004 as well as one of the Top 100 Attorneys in Southern California each year since 2013, Barry was also chosen one of the Top 25 lawyers in the San Fernando Valley by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. He carried a 5.0 AV Preeminent rating by Martindale Hubbell—reflecting the highest level of legal ability and an ethical standard awarded for an attorney, and was named one of the Best Lawyers in Los Angeles in Family Law since 2012, as published in Southern California’s Best Lawyers editions of the Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal and Best Lawyers Magazine.
He has been honored by the Van Nuys Superior Court for his efforts in organizing and scheduling attorneys to preside in family law mediation cases, and was also a recipient of the Stanley Lintz Award for outstanding professional and community service, awarded by the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.
Barry was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and all of the Superior Courts in the State of California. This California divorce attorney served the Los Angeles Superior Court as a Judge Pro Tem and a Family Law Mediator.
