  • Thomas Cecil is a Shareholder at our Firm who represents individuals who have suffered life altering personal injuries, and families who have suffered the wrongful death of a loved one due to the negligence or misconduct of others.

Tom was involved in the DePuy ASR Hip System cases against Johnson & Johnson, DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc., and others, arising from the failure of a defective metal on metal artificial hip. He represented the family of a young woman in a matter involving the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department — the young woman was killed when her disabled car was struck by a speeding Sheriff’s patrol car.

Tom has represented clients with catastrophic injuries, including:

These injuries and deaths were caused by carelessly driven trucks, buses and cars, as well as by manufacturers of defective products as diverse as automobiles, golf carts, All Terrain Vehicles, industrial machinery, flammable clothing, defective medical devices and hair dye.

Tom also has considerable experience representing people who have suffered injuries from slip and falls due to dangerous conditions of property. With a solid background in insurance law, Tom has successfully litigated insurance bad faith cases against the insurance industry for wrongfully denied insurance claims.

With almost 30 years of experience litigating personal injury, product liability, wrongful death and insurance claims, Tom obtains fair monetary compensation for payment of medical bills, loss of income, pain and suffering, and damages; as well as future medical expenses, loss of earnings and otherlife time damages.

Tom uses his experience to hire the best qualified experts in brain injury, spinal injuries, orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, and neuropsychology to both assist the client and to prove the severity of the injury to the person at fault, and ultimately, the jury.

In a City as diverse as Los Angeles, California, Tom has helped clients who from time to time need help with immigration law.

Over the years, Tom has expanded his practice to immigration law to assist both personal injury and other Firm clients with immigration matters ranging from family based adjustment of status (green cards), immigrant and non-immigrant visas, employment documents, U.S. Citizenship and employer verification (I-9 compliance). With his background in Immigration and Nationality law, Tom is able to provide an additional legal service which otherwise would have required a referral to an outside lawyer.

Tom has devoted considerable time volunteering with the Immigration Legal Assistance Project sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bar Association and with the Van Nuys Self Help Center sponsored by Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, assisting those who otherwise cannot afford legal help.

Tom is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the Central, Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of California. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.

Tom graduated from the University of Southern California in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He graduated from the University of Santa Clara with a Degree of Juris Doctor in 1983 and became a Shareholder in 2000.
