Michael Hackman is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut, with a major in economics. In 1964, he received a Masters degree in Business Administration from Stanford University, where he ranked in the top ten percent of his class. He received his law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, after being elected to the Order of the Coif and receiving American Jurisprudence awards in Income Tax, Corporations and Legal Ethics. Following law school, Mr. Hackman served for one year as a consultant to the California State Assembly Ways and Means Committee. He has practiced law since 1968, specializing in taxation, business and health care law, and became a shareholder of the firm in 1973.
Since 1977, Mr. Hackman has been a Certified Specialist in Tax Law under the State Bar of California's Specialization Program, and is a member of several bar associations and their Tax and/or Estate Planning Sections. He has assisted in the preparation of several publications covering health care and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of California.
