Marshall graduated Magna Cum Laude, with honors in Political Science, in 1966 from the University of Southern California, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and to Phi Kappa Phi, which recognizes undergraduates in the top one percent of their class. He attended law school at Boalt Hall, University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1969 after being elected to the Order of the Coif, which recognizes law students graduating in the top ten percent of their class. During law school, he was named a Regents Fellow in Law by the Board of Regents of the University of California and earned an American Jurisprudence award for receiving the highest grade in Corporations, as well as achieving the highest grade in several other classes. He also served as a special editorial assistant with California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), where he worked on several major legal practice books, including CEB's book on the California Corporate Securities Law. Mr. Marshall has practiced law since 1969, specializing in business, real estate, finance and health care, including representation of a number of hospitals. He joined the firm in 1981 when his prior law firm merged with the firm. From 1975 through 2000, he has served as an Adjunct Professor at UCLA, teaching business law class to candidates for CPA examination. He is also the author of the chapter on Legal Forms of Organization in Financial Planning for the Independent Professional, and has served as a settlement officer, Arbitrator and Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Municipal and Superior Courts. Mr. Marshall also serves as an Arbitrator and has chaired multiple Arbitration panels for the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Services. Mr. Marshall has also served on the Corporations Committee of the State Bar of California, which analyzes and makes recommendations concerning California legislation affecting corporations. A member of the State Bar of California and several local bar associations, Mr. Marshall is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, and before the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2007, Mr. Marshall received the President's Award from the San Fernando Valley Bar Association for his service to the Bar and the community.
